ABOUT
Founder Ljudan Michaelis-Thorpe is a proud Bidjara and Dhunghutti woman from Australia. She created Women in Screen Enterprise (WISE) to produce a slate of powerful screen content with strong female driven and First Nations oriented narratives. The social enterprise arm of this production house is designed to promote and create opportunities for women from diverse backgrounds to find creative pathways into the screen industry through a supportive and caring environment.
WISE is more than your average film production company. WISE and its partners are passionate about creating opportunities for Indigenous people especially women to advance their digital storytelling skills and further their development as screen practitioners.
We want to see Aboriginal stories created for screen to be led by our people both in front of and behind the lens – and especially as viable pathways for business and remuneration.
As our company grows with the success of its productions we will actively tether profits to the social enterprise arm to offer free events, training in business development through our funded programs, attachments for Aboriginal women on our film projects and internships for hands on professional development.
WISE currently has a diverse slate of projects at different stages of development, from documentary features, to drama televisions series and drama features.
